Normal shimmed valves cannot open enough without making the valve stack too soft for normal conditions, the blow-off style allows for increased preload on the valve with a more linear transition into the high speed resistance. Can use stock adjuster spring. Optional blow-off springs available to fine tune the blow-off curve.
